Alex Szewczyk, DPT, CIMT, MS

Alex takes a wholebody assessment approach to not only assist clients with symptom management, but to also find the driver of their pain. The trigger/driver of a patient’s pain may not always be the region where the person feels the pain.  He enjoys examining a person’s movement patterns to help identify these regions of the body that may be contributing to the client’s symptoms because of non-optimal behavior. Alex has his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of Washington, and has completed further advanced training as a Certified Integrated Manual Therapist (CIMT), and is pursing certification as a Connect Therapy practitioner to help enhance this whole body assessment approach. He is also a certified ASTYM provider.

Prior to becoming a physical therapist, Alex had a career in the field of information technology. However, his love for anatomy, biomechanics, and physical fitness eventually drove him towards work as a personal trainer, and then to eventually pursue a career in physical therapy. He has a passion for helping others recover from injury, and develop good habits that will keep them active longer despite today’s sedentary office work environment.

Alex is a native of the Chicagoland region, but has lived in Seattle over 10 years. He enjoys all the outdoor activities that the surrounding region has to offer. His wife, kids, and he enjoy taking kayaking and camping adventures throughout the Puget Sound region, Pacific Northwest, and Canada.  Pursuing US Sailing’s keelboat certification has been a recent endeavor of his, and they hope to utilize this as another way to get out on the water with kids. They are also avid travelers and have been to over 30 countries throughout the world.

Alex makes an effort to stay active, and physical fitness is a part of his daily routine. He enjoys going for a run, cycling, swimming, hiking, and has played soccer most of his life. Studying nutrition and eating healthy is a focus of his, and he enjoys discussing this topic with people. He has also taken further training in bike fitting and cycling injury and has completed the first level of USA weightlifting coaching course.
