Marty Vanzo, PT, DPT

Marty has a strong belief in the importance in finding the root cause of pain for each individual in their ability to achieve optimal function. Although he is open to all paradigms of evaluation and treatment, he finds a strong base in Functional Manual Therapy, a type of treatment developed within the Institute of Physical Art (IPA). Functional manual therapy is an integrative approach using a hands-on approach to address biomechanical restrictions as well as retraining your body to move as efficiently as possible to achieve optimal function. Marty will be testing for his CFMT (certified functional manual therapist) through the IPA in 2020 as he continues to take courses and improve his skills within this paradigm.

Raised in Vermont, Marty attended both undergraduate and graduate school within the Green Mountain State. He received his B.S. in Biology from St. Michael’s College and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Vermont. Upon graduation, Marty made the cross-country move to Seattle to start his PT career in an area renowned for access to skiing (both in the resort and in the backcountry), rock climbing, and backpacking.

While these outdoor sports have become Marty’s biggest passions outside of the clinic, he grew up playing nearly all team sports. Through high school he played soccer, hockey, and lacrosse and continued his lacrosse career into college earning all-conference recognition during his last two seasons.
