Even though you may be performing an activity or sport at a high level, it does not mean you are free from injury risk. We place great importance on preventing injuries before they happen. As a part of our ongoing effort to educate our clients and community in this area, we provide free movement and sports performance screens.
When you make an appointment for a Movement and Sports Performance Screen, your physical therapist will review the types of sports and activities you participate in and then evaluate your mechanics, posture and movement using the Functional Movement Screen and a few sport-specific measures to detect any mobility, stability or strength deficits that may lead to the use of compensatory movements. The inefficient use of compensation during movement can lead to poor biomechanics that limit gains in performance and reduce your ability to remain adaptable and durable against the risks of being involved in your activity or sport.
A Movement and Sports Performance Screen lasts 20-30 minutes and is completed for individuals with no current pain complaint or musculoskeletal injury. Please keep in mind that this is not a physical therapy evaluation and if you have a concern or condition that is beyond the scope of the screen, we suggest you consult your physician or be referred for Physical Therapy treatment.
If you are questioning the extent of a strain, sprain or nagging pain, we offer complimentary Injury Screens to review your symptoms and goals and provide direction on the best treatment to getting you back to your full potential.
An injury screen is a 15-30-minute appointment with a licensed Physical Therapist. During the screen, the therapist will discuss your condition and provide a brief assessment of your physical and functional abilities. The information collected will help provide insight into the best medical options for you. Whether you require some simple exercises, a round of physical therapy or a referral to an orthopedic specialist, our knowledgeable and caring staff will help point you in the right direction.
